1. Upone discovering that I had no water this morning, I called Johannesburg Water to find out the situation. As always - the call centre could not give me any answers.
I then researched and found an alert on [URL Removed] where "Johannesburg Water (JW), the City's water and sanitation service provider wuld like to inform residents living in Bryanston about a scheduled water interruption.
Streets/Areas affected: Bryanston and surrounding areas
Date: 07 till 14 February 2012
Time 09h00 to 09h00
Reason: Cleaning of the tower
Impact on customers: Possible low pressure and no water "
One would assume the "time" is a typo - but regardless, this seems rather excessive - a week to clean a tower?? So people living in Bryanston and surrounding areas must just make do without water for a whole week? This is down right stupid. How are people meant to go about their daily duties without water?
Johannesburg Water needs to start implementing strategies, whereby their actions do not impact the consumers paying for their products and services.
2. On Friday 10th Feb I phoned the 011375555 help line. It was answered promptly and when I dropped the call and phoned back it was again answered promptly. I reported a water leak at my water mains on the pavement. On Saturday morning two people arrived and fixed my leak and put in a new meter. Thank You mUNICIPALITY FOR EFFICIENT SERVICE
